Abstract

Although the automatic generation of graph drawings has been addressed for many years, no generic algorithms exists. This kind of algorithm can adapt its behavior in order to represent information according to the specific semantics of application domains. In this paper we present the Constrained Simple Compound Graph Layout (CSCGL) algorithm in which users can introduce knowledge about how to draw graphs in a specific domain related to biochemical networks. We show how we implemented the CSCGL algorithm in the Visual BioMaze framework, a generic viewer of graphs.
